How many types of courses does Participate Film Academy offer?

Participate Film Academy offers courses for all ages.

What is the course duration? 

Courses run generally for 7 or 12 months, call in for details.

Does any prior experience in the film/television industry give me a step up compared to others within the course?

Any skills that you have gained through prior experiences are welcomed by Participate Film Academy and will give you a strong base from which to build on.

Experience may help you find your strengths within the course and allow you to branch into new exciting areas. An example may be that you have previous acting experience through participating in acting workshops or even film school.

Although you may be see yourself as an actor you may find new talents with film editing, creating sound scapes or marketing the film. With Participate Film Academy you create, shoot, develop and market your film from scratch with the help of mentors from within the industry.

How are the different roles assigned?

(e.g. director, actors. etc)

Students and mentors will be involved in the audition and interview process.  All Positions will be attained through an audition process.

Are there any additional fees on top of the course fee?

No, there are no fees on top of the course fee.

Do I need to purchase any equipment?

No, you'll be using our equipment - including editing facilities, cameras, lighting, sound equipment and much much more.

Can I pay the course fees in instalments?

Yes, we offer Interest Free terms - call in for details.

What format will we be shooting?

Students will be working and filming in HD (High Definition).

What video-editing software will we be learning?

Students will be using the latest editing software from Apple: Final Cut Pro.

Will there be any assessment criteria to gain access to Participate Film Academy?

We would like to have students who are seriously interested to learn filmmaking, in all its facets, and who would like to eventually work in the film industry. 

Are all students enrolling into Participate Film Academy  going to be in a feature film?

Yes. They will all have credits in a feature film at the end of the course; this is what makes Participate Film Academy unique.

What roles will students play in the feature film?

That's up to them. They will focus on their own areas of particular interest: writing, acting, direction, photography, editing, etc.

However, within each film department there are many roles. Students will have to demonstrate their skills and talent by pitching and auditioning to the other students and mentors to secure their preferred part(s).

The aim here is to train them to ensure they have the best quality film with the best chances of success at the box office. Thus, all decision will be made by students with mentors only giving them advice, guidelines and feedback.

As soon as there is sufficient interest from your part of town, we'll do our best to organize a course there.
